The team at JOHNSON TILES visited CERSAIE 2010 and garnered valuable

insight into current ceramic tile trends, including styles, sizes, finishes
and textures.

“If I had to give an overall report of the fair it can be summed up that ‘less
is more’ as described by some of the ceramic stylists,” says Jayson Parrott,
national sales manager of JOHNSON TILES.

Premium ranges featured high-honed surfaces with a realistic feel created
through inkjet technology. Ultra-realistic marble lookalikes were further
enhanced through inkjet technology and displayed in rectangular formats
in horizontal installations.

A new innovation is thin full-bodied porcelain tiles in large formats such
as 1 metre x 3 metre in size with thin 4mm bisques. The mixture of
textures and a variety of sizes were prominent throughout the differing
design styles, from classic to contemporary styles.
“We’ll see these trends filter through to our local market as the retail
sector, residential and commercial markets demandfashionable tiles.
Local tile manufacturers with the righttechnology will be able to offer
these new trends,” says Parrott.
